The siege of Leningrad is one of the most tragic pages of the Great Patriotic War. For 872 days, the inhabitants of Leningrad experienced terrible trials associated with hunger, cold and the constant threat of death. At that time, the Leningraders faced the most difficult challenges.

January 27, 1944 became a special day for citizens of Leningrad. On this day, thousands of people took to the streets to celebrate this historic moment. Flashes of fireworks blossomed in the Leningrad sky, which symbolized the end of terrible period and the beginning of a new era for the city.

Olga Bergholz, a poet who was a companion, comforter, and inspiration to the Leningraders from the first to the last day of the blockade, supported the Leningraders in her poems.

Olga Bergholz became a poet, personifying the resilience of the besieged city. In the Radio House, she broadcast almost daily.

«Attention! This is Leningrad speaking! Listen to us, my native country. The poet Olga Bergholz is at the microphone...» - Thousands of Leningraders waited for these words every day. They knew that if Bergholz was on the air, then the City had not given up.

Leningrad's "Okna TASS" appeared on the streets of the city every day. The artists were dying of hunger, but the work did not stop.

Dmitry Shostakovich's Seventh Symphony played an equally important role, which became a symbol of the heroic resistance of the besieged city for the whole world and was named "Leningradskaya".

Despite all the difficulties, the citizens of the city showed incredible fortitude and perseverance. Thanks to them, Leningrad was able to rebuild its industry, infrastructure and social institutions. The city has once again become a center of culture, education and science.

The siege of Leningrad is not only a tragic page in history, but also an example of incredible survival and strength of the human spirit. It will remain in the memory of posterity as a symbol of struggle and rebirth.
